Cordillera will resume the freeze/thaw restrictions that limit trucks to 12,000 pounds per axle Tuesday, February 20. Weight restrictions are implemented to protect the structural integrity of the asphalt. The duration of these restrictions are determined by the average daily temperatures; therefore, it is difficult to determine when the restrictions will end. In the past, freeze/thaw restrictions have generally lasted until the end of April.
During this period, all trucks except fire trucks, Metro District trucks and residential trash trucks will be restricted. Public Safety monitors the daily temperatures and will call contractors as the restrictions approach. Property owners or contractors with questions are encouraged to contact Joanne Kelley at 970-471-2769.
