The Cordillera-owned section of the Eagle River is currently closed to wade fishing due to high flow rates above 1,000 cfs; fishing beats may not be reserved at this time. These dangerous streamflows are not expected to last as long. The reservation system will be reopened as soon as streamflow forecasts indicate safe wading conditions. This is a good time to fish the ponds. Please remember that the ponds are for you and your accompanied guests.•Flies and single barbless hooks only.•No bait fishing.•All caught fish must be released immediately. •Use a rubber net and keep the fish wet. Trout are delicate and accidentally wiping their protective slime off can cause bacterial infection to develop on their skin. The staff at Vail Valley Anglers can offer advise on best flies and tactics to enjoy a successful day of still water fishing on the ponds.
